Samuel L. Jackson joins ‘Last Dragon’ remake

Samuel L. Jackson has signed on to play Sho’nuff in the remake of Berry Gordy’s 1985 action flick “The Last Dragon.”

The Hollywood Reporter says the new film will stick closely to the original, focusing on martial arts student Leroy Green and his quest to become the greatest fighter alive.

As Sho’nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, Jackson is yet again set to take on the role of the villain. The next bad guy he’s playing is The Octopus in Frank Miller’s “The Spirit.”

The trade says the project is set up at Columbia Pictures, with Dallas Jackson writing the screenplay.

Jackson most recently starred in “Lakeview Terrace,” in which he played a corrupt cop terrorizing his new neighbors. He will next be seen alongside the late Bernie Mac in “Soul Men.”

What do you guys think about this remake? Excited about Jackson’s involvement? Post your comments below.

As wonderful as it sounds to hear that Samuel L. Jackson would play Sho nuff, I really think they should leave the original be and not do the remake. So much of the film resonates 80's and it will be hard to match that.

Lets look at the next generation. Sho Nuff and Eddie Arcadia has been in jail long enough to have created some evil plots to get back at Leroy. Sho Nuffs in prison whipping up on everyone who thinks they're tough and Eddie's money has grown. He's now richer than ever before. Mean while Leroy has continued in the way of the peaceful warrior we all know and loved, with a few new discoveries in the golden glow. Just thinks the action all starts in the weeks before Sho and Eddie are released from prison. When Sho give Sho Jr. AKA Busta Rhymes the go ahead. all Im asking for is 1%of the movie round trip plane tickets for two and all acommindations paid for for the world premere. I'll give you the rest for free. The last Dragon 2 can be out of this world!!!!! all this can be negotiated at the drop off a dime.

*LAUGHS!* This is so funny. I was just sitting on the john and for some unknown reason the thought of "The Last Dragon" came to mind. I thought how cool would it be if there was a remake of this movie. I remember loving the first one and the music from it. SO I ran a search for it and here I am. I can't wait to see this movie.
