Gary Oldman is in talks to join Denzel Washington in Albert and Allen Hughes’s upcoming drama “Book of Eli.”

In the post-apocalyptic film, Washington will play Eli, a hero who travels across America to protect a sacred book and pass on the knowledge of what could be society’s way to redemption.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Oldman would star as the despot of a small town who is willing to do anything to get a hold of Eli’s book.

The Hughes brothers, who last helmed “From Hell,” are directing Gary Whitta’s script, which Anthony Peckham rewrote.

Oldman most recently starred as James Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.” He will next be seen in David S. Goyer’s upcoming horror film “The Unborn.”

Final word: Oldman rocks! That's all I have to say.
