Universal to develop skyscraper disaster flick
Monday, October 27, 2008 at 7:50PM | By
Franck Tabouring Universal Pictures picked up a pitch for an untitled disaster flick by screenwriter Mike Sobel, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The story is set in a mile-high skyscraper and follows a developer and a rescue crew who team up to save the building from collapsing.
The project is described as an action film in the style of “The Towering Inferno,” the 1974 Oscar-winning film directed by Irwin Allen and John Guillermin.
Sobel is also developing “Animals,” a horror movie in which all the world’s animals suddenly start attacking humans.
Final thought: This project sounds like a mix between “Ladder 49” and “World Trade Center” Could be interesting though if scripted well enough.
