Statham, Rourke board ’13 Tzameti’ remake

Mickey Rourke, 50 Cent and Jason Statham are set to star alongside Sam Riley in Géla Babluani’s remake of his own French thriller “13 Tzameti.”

Variety says Babluani also wrote the script for the English version, which follows a man who gets a hold of a mysterious package with a set of instructions leading to a fortune.

Endeavor holds the North American distribution rights for the remake, which is titled “13” and is set to head into principal photography later this year.

Rourke will next be seen in Darren Aronofsky’s acclaimed sports drama “The Wrestler.” 50 Cent was last seen in “Righteous Kill,” and recently wrapped filming for “Streets of Blood.”

As for Statham, his upcoming projects include “Crank 2: High Voltage” and “Transporter 3.” He most recently starred in “Death Race.

“13 Tzameti” snatched the Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Festival.
