Liebesman to direct alien invasion in ‘Battle’

Plan to sell your movie? Want to increase your chances for a deal? Why not go out there and shoot some scenes to better present your vision?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, that’s exactly what Jonathan Liebesman did. The helmer is in talks to direct “Battle: Los Angeles,” a sci-fi action flick about a Marine platoon’s battle against alien invaders in L.A.

One reason Liebesman is in negotitations to direct the project is because he shot some scenes for the film and added some CGI for his presentation. I guess somebody out there was impressed by what he did.

The idea for the film came from Chris Bertolini, who sold his idea to Original Films and Columbia earlier this year.

Liebesman’s directing credits include the catastrophic “Darkness Falls” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.” He’s currently working on the post-production for “The Killing Room.”
