Brad Pitt, Warner Bros. to adapt ‘Odyssey’
Brad Pitt and Warner Bros. are teaming up for the big-screen adaptation of Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey,” Variety reported earlier today.
The good news (at least in my opinion) is Wolfgang Petersen is not attached to direct the project. Petersen, Pitt and Warner previously collaborated on 2004’s “Troy,” a film I personally didn’t enjoy that much.
Instead, the man in talks to direct this thing is George Miller, whose credits include “Mad Max” and “Happy Feet.” He is also attached to Warner’s “Justice League: Mortal.”
“Odyssey” focuses on the travels of Odysseus during his period of wandering following the fall of Troy. Pitt is expected to star in the flick, while his Plan B is set to produce.
Pitt was last seen in Ethan and Joel Coen’s “Burn After Reading.” His upcoming flick is David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” due in theaters Dec. 25, 2008.
