Brad Pitt leaves Aronofsky’s ‘The Fighter’

Darren Aronofsky’s current flick “The Wrestler” is picking up praise everywhere it travels, but the director seems to have a lot of trouble developing his next film, “The Fighter.”

The project, about the special relationship between boxer Mickey Ward and his brother Dicky Ecklund, was originally scheduled to head into principal photography this year, but according to The Playlist, Aronofsky has been having both financial and casting problems.

In a recent interview, Aronofsky said Brad Pitt is no longer involved with the film. The actor was originally on board for the role of Ecklund but dropped out for unknown reasons. Mark Wahlberg, however, is still cast as Ward.

Why exactly Pitt left the project is an interesting question, especially because it’s not the first time he leaves an Aronofsky film. It happened before in 2002 with the helmer’s “The Fountain.”

I think this will be Pitt's loss. Aronofsky’s films aren't always huge in the box office, but he makes some of the most beautiful films in today's market. I am sure he has his reasons, but I think Brad will miss out. I can't wait to see the Boxer. If I had the money, I would fund your film Mr. Aronofsky. Good luck though.
