Trailer Review: "Paranoid Park"

Seen first: January 10, 2008
Our quick thoughts: After quietly following his characters around and supplying them with minimal dialogue in “Elephant” and “Last Days,” Gus Van Sant returns to the big screen with “Paranoid Park,” a thriller that may just as well be confused with a Larry Clark movie.
The story of a teenager whose life starts deteriorating after he gets tangled up in the accidental death of a security guard sounds compelling, and I am sure Van Sant will dig deep enough into his characters for the movie to leave a strong mark on its audience. Judging by the excellent trailer, “Paranoid Park” looks like a film with a somber atmosphere, backed by a powerful direction and credible acting.
Freaky Quote: “You sure do act weird sometimes, because you think after what we did you’d be a little more happy to see me.” – Lauren McKinney
